Bella Hadid and the Cannes Film Festival are practically forever linked at this point; the model always makes a captivating, memorable appearance at the French fest, and her 2026 installment was no different. Though sometimes her gown takes center stage, this year we were hyper-focused on the perfect sculpted bun she wore with her Prada gown, given that the classic-with-a-twist updo feels right on time for wedding season and all things bridal hair.

Hadid attended the premiere of the movie Garance alongside her younger brother Anwar Hadid in said strapless Prada gown, her honey-colored hair pulled tightly back from her face and wrapped into a figure eight-shaped knot at the crown of her head. The bun is simple but so beautifully and precisely arranged that it would be absolutely stunning on a bride, both with a veil tucked into the base to trail behind and for an afterparty. Hairstylist Jacob Schwartz, who created the look, prepped Hadid's hair with Olaplex's Volumizing Blow Dry Mist and No.6 Bond Smoother, then smoothed her hair with a Mason Pearson brush and slicked it back with a flat brush. Schwartz then secured Hadid's hair into a ponytail and twisted said ponytail into the figure eight shape, pinning it in place and finishing with No.7 Bonding Oil.

Even if you're not tying the knot this year, you can still wear your hair in a similar knot, both for fancy, dressy occasions like a wedding in Italy or a Friday night out. But there's something about the shape and sleekness of Hadid's bun that makes it feel so ready for wedding season, regardless of your role on the big day: bride, bridesmaid, or guest. Then again, there is some TikTok-based discourse about when and where to wear a slicked-back bun and banning bridesmaids from opting for the style, but as Hadid so beautifully proves here, there's a reason the style is a go-to for formal events: it just works.
